Deliberately small and aggressively STEM, Florida Poly is the most selective, affordable, public STEM university on the east coast. Florida Poly’s curriculum, academic structure, and facilities deliberately embrace modern design and pivot from the trappings of higher ed’s status quo to be intensely driven and boldly relevant.

Since its inception in 2012, and as one of the newest public universities in the country in over 30 years, Florida Poly is a national STEM institution of excellence focused on four specific characteristics that differentiate its position and approach. It needed to be deliberately small, applied, affordable, and fiercely relevant to fulfil immediate economic, educational, and industry demands.

Florida Poly’s affordable tuition means access is available to all budding makers without shackling students and their families to debilitating debt. Not only does Florida Poly have the lowest public university tuition in the entire state of Florida, but it has also been ranked among the best for out-of-state tuition rates among thousands of institutions nationwide, most affordable mechanical engineering degree programs, and best universities in Florida for top performance at a low cost. Florida Poly also entered U.S. News and World Report’s national rankings of the top 75 engineering colleges without a doctorate degree in 2020, and in the top 40 of those institutions that are public.

With state-of-the-art academic and research spaces and a scientific environment that practices hands-on discovery on the foundation of theoretical principles, Florida Poly is transforming the supply of highly skilled graduates ready to succeed in tomorrow’s most in-demand jobs.

Our newest generation of STEM leaders are gaining the knowledge, real-world experience, and faculty connections at Florida Poly they need to take on emerging challenges and succeed for Florida and the nation.

Onboarding for new employees consists of a two-part process that begins after the employee has accepted and signed their offer letter, successfully completed their background screening requirements and have completed the pre-hire and hiring approval process in Workday.

Part 1: Once an employee has been hired in Workday, they will receive an email with instructions on how to activate their NETID. Upon activating the NETID, the site will automatically route them to Workday to begin completing all of their new hire compliance onboarding tasks. These tasks will consist of the following:

  • Verifying their legal name and personal contact information.
  • Verifying their submitted government identification.
  • Entering emergency contact information.
  • Completing their Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification
  • Entering direct deposit information and completing their W-4
  • Identification documents must be brought to the office of Human Resources and cannot be expired.

*New employees will need to monitor their Workday inbox closely to complete all tasks in a timely manner.

Part 2: Upon the employee successfully activating their NETID and completing the first set of tasks assigned to them, they will receive an email from the Human Resources Assistant to set up an onboarding meeting to complete their new hire paperwork and receive an invitation to New Hire Orientation. Once all forms are completed and all Workday compliance tasks are done, an email confirmation will be sent to the hiring supervisor and the department administrative assistant to officially provide clearance for the new hire to begin their new role at Florida Polytechnic University.
